Welcome to the webpage of Seiffen’s Miners' church
This is an ordinary church with a community, Sunday services and funerals held in here. The church was built in 1779, and has been home to Seiffen Lutheran Parish since 1833.
We would like to invite you to visit our church throughout the year. Here are some highlights:
Advent and Christmas. A concert takes place every Sunday in Advent at 2.30 p.m., the Seiffener Adventsmusik (with our children’s choir (Kurrende), choir, organ, trombone ensemble). Although many people want to see the concert, don’t be discouraged if you would like to come. Just be there minimum half an hour before, and you will get a seat. There is also a very traditional service at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve with lanterns and candles (no nativity play but readings from the Scripture and hymns). Please be at the church at 4 p. m. to get a good seat. The trombone ensemble plays carols to shorten the time till the Service begins.
We hold Sunday Morning Service every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. In most of the services, you can hear our children’s choir, Kurrende, in their black coats and white collars. They are famous just because of the miniatures made in the Erzgebirge and sold all over the world.
There are special services on 2nd February, when we celebrate the end of the Christmas season, and on the first Sunday in November when we remember the inauguration of our church. On that Sunday, Seiffen’s Miners enter the church in their habits and take part in the Service. Throughout the year, many concerts take place. On every Saturday in summer, there is a concert at 6 p. m – our Sommermusik.
If you have any questions or if you would like to come and visit our church, please feel free to contact us in English.
